Der US Army Mlitary Shop schreibt:
- "2) fuel isn't supposed to be toxic. Trioxane is toxic, fume wise and poison-eating wise."
- "6) fuel smells faintly like rotten fish. Trioxane smells faintly like chemicals."
- "Trioxane:
1. Easy to light - no tricks needed.
2. The quality control on the packaging is bad. I had two empty sealed packets in my 6 boxes I checked. Also the bars are normally falling apart inside the package - lots of fuel crumbs.
3. Toxic - fumes aren't to bad unless you are right over the stove.
4. Burns quickly. The flames were huge, but were not as hot (at least that is how I saw it). This led me to try and divide a bar into 1/6 pieces. I then tried feeding three separate parts (1/2 ounce total) and feeding them in intervals - method 2.
5. 1/2 ounce fuel was 1/2 bar.
6. Left a wax like substance.
Conclusion: is clearly the winner based on these tests in all areas except price. But if you consider that the Trioxane never archived the performance of the , the still wins. Unless in a total pinch for fuel, Trioxane doesn't cut it."
Ein amerikanisches Review (USGI Canteen Cup with Stand and Trioxane Fuel Bars) schreibt:
- "Trioxane is really neat stuff . . . it's a small fuel pellet that fits underneath the canteen cup and stand.
Trioxane burns clean and hot for about 15 minutes, which is plenty to heat your coffee, tee, water or entree. Trioxane burns clean, and the only residue is a blag slag of almost pure carbon, so it's environmentally friendly. Since it burns hot and doesn't produce sparks, it's pretty safe to use in the woods. Personally, I use them for day hikes in lieu of a backpacker's stove. Trioxane is cheap and light, and it's perfect for short trips."
